Considering the high costs associated with getting married and building a house, the AP government has introduced the Pelli Kanuak Scheme or wedding gift schemes (Kalyana Mastu and Shaadi Tofa) to assist those in need during the wedding process.
Through these AP Marriage assistance schemes, the government aims to provide financial assistance to support low-income families, particularly those who marry their daughters.
The schemes also seek to protect the bride by registering the marriage and preventing child marriages.
The main objective of the Andhra Pradesh Pelli Kanuka Scheme is to provide financial aid to economically weaker families for their daughters’ marriages. This initiative also ensures benefits for couples from marginalized castes after marriage.
Under Pelli Kanuaka Scheme, Rs. 1 lakh is provided for SC and ST marriages. The amount is increased to 1.20 lakhs for SC and ST inter-caste marriages.
Additionally, Rs. 50,000 is allocated for BCs, while Rs. 75,000 is given for inter-caste marriages. Minorities who are disabled are eligible for Rs. 1.50 lakhs. Construction workers are also being given Rs. 40,000.
Applications will be accepted through Village/Ward Secretariats. Financial support will be provided for the first marriage.
The income of the families of both the bride and the groom should be less than Rs. 10,000 in rural areas and Rs. 12,000 in urban areas.
The families’ land holdings should not exceed three acres for Magani and 10 acres for plain land, with the combined total not exceeding 10 acres. Previous Pelli Kanuak Scheme Guidelines in Telugu
