Ayushman Bharat Scheme: Govt to Raise Health Insurance Coverage to Rs. 10 Lakh

The central and state governments are announcing various schemes with a particular focus on public health. One such scheme introduced by the central government is Ayushman Bharat.

Which has recently been completed for 5 years. On this occasion, the Modi government is preparing to announce positive news for the underprivileged.

The Ayushman Bharat Scheme aims to provide access to healthcare for poor and middle-class individuals who are unable to afford hospital expenses. Also known as the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, the scheme was designed to improve healthcare facilities for all.

Launched by the central government on September 23, 2018, the scheme has benefited millions of poor and middle-class individuals across the country.

Under this scheme, each family can receive up to Rs. 5 lakh per year for free treatments, and the government is considering increasing this limit.

The government is reportedly planning to double the coverage of Ayushman Bharat, extending it to Rs. 10 lakh to provide greater relief to the public.

With approximately 10 crore people already benefiting from this scheme, the government is preparing to revamp the program and its package arrangements, with an official statement expected soon.

Under this scheme, individuals can obtain their Ayushman card through the Ayushman app, the nearest Common Service Center (CSC), or a registered hospital.

Furthermore, the government plans to add more hospitals across the country to the Ayushman Yojana, including those in smaller cities, to ensure that people have access to affordable and prompt healthcare facilities.

The government is also working on developing a new system for quick settlement of hospital bills, taking steps to facilitate bill payments after treatment.
