The UPI Circle is a new feature introduced by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) as a part of the Unified Payments Interface (UPI).
This feature allows users to add family members and trusted friends as secondary users to their UPI account.
These secondary users can make payments directly from the primary user’s account without requiring permission for each transaction.
To use the UPI Circle, users need to update settings in their payment apps. The primary user can add up to five secondary users, and it is advisable to add only trusted individuals to prevent unnecessary expenses.
There are two options for allowing transactions by secondary users:
- With Permission: The primary user receives a notification for each transaction and can choose to approve or decline it.
- Without Permission: Secondary users can make transactions without seeking permission, but the primary user can set a transaction limit to control their spending.
The maximum limit for UPI Circle transactions is Rs. 15,000 per month, and individual transactions cannot exceed Rs. 5,000.
To add a friend or family member to the UPI Circle, the primary user can enter their UPI ID in the payment app under the UPI Circle option.
