Every parent aspires for their children to excel in their studies and achieve a higher level of education. Unfortunately, due to our country’s rising cost of education, quality education remains out of reach for many low-income families.
Parents who cannot afford to send their children to prestigious corporate schools often face difficult compromises. Consequently, even intelligent children miss out on a good education and a bright future.
Various organizations in the government and private sectors offer scholarships each year to support such children and enhance their access to quality education. One such organization is the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC).
The LIC Golden Jubilee Foundation, aiming to assist children from economically disadvantaged families, offers scholarships annually. This year, it has launched the “Golden Jubilee Scholarship 2024 Program” (LIC GJF Scholarship Scheme 2024).
This scholarship is open to all students who have completed their 10th, 12th, or Diploma (or equivalent level of education) with at least 60 percent marks (or equivalent CGPA) during the academic years 2021-22, 2022-23, or 2023-24. Students enrolling in the first year for the academic year 2024-25 can also apply for this scholarship.
Boys and girls interested in pursuing the following courses are eligible to apply for the Golden Jubilee Scholarship 2024:
- Medicine, Engineering, Graduation in any discipline, Diploma courses, or Integrated courses in any field
- Vocational Courses at government-recognized colleges/institutes or Industrial Training Institutes (ITI)
Additionally, there are special scholarships available for two years specifically for girls who wish to study the following courses:
- Intermediate courses in the 9th to 12th grades or a 10+2 system
- Diploma courses in any field for two years following the 10th grade.
Scholarship Payment in Two Installments: Selected girls will receive Rs. 1,500 each year after completing their 10th grade. This support will help them continue their studies in government-recognized colleges or institutes, including ITI or 12th-grade studies.
For other scholarships, Rs. 7,500 will also be disbursed in two installments, with Rs. 7,500 paid twice a year. This money will be transferred to the selected students’ bank accounts through NEFT.
Beneficiaries must provide their IFSC code, bank account details, and a canceled cheque with their application. The bank account to which the funds will be transferred must remain active.
Assistance for Higher Education: Candidates pursuing medicine courses such as MBBS, BAMS, BHMS, or BDS will receive a scholarship of Rs. 40,000 in two installments during their studies.
This financial support from LIC will assist students who cannot afford higher education due to financial constraints.
