The government has taken a key decision as part of the implementation of the Layout Regularization Scheme (LRS). It has made it possible to register plots that have been pending for the last four years. It will also provide a 25% discount on the LRS fee.
It has also indicated that registration can be done by paying the regularization fee directly at the Sub-Registrar’s office. Those who complete these registrations by March 31 will be eligible for the LRS fee discount.
The government has instructed the officials to expedite the implementation of the LRS scheme and suggested that pending applications be resolved quickly. The government had previously banned the registration of plots in unauthorized layouts.
Due to this, those who bought them cannot register for four years. The government has provided flexibility to all of them and now allows them to register their plots.
The scheme has been made available to those who have purchased plots individually and are awaiting registration and to many plots that have not been sold in layouts.
For example, if 10% of the plots in a layout are registered and the remaining 90% are not registered, they will be allowed to be regularized and registered under the LRS. Those who have already purchased plots, have sale deeds, and have responded by March 31st will get a concession in the fee.
‘People experiencing poverty have been waiting for the resolution of their LRS applications for four years. They should take advantage of the government’s opportunity, keeping their interests in mind.
Since the implementation of the LRS provides many facilities, the government has instructed the officials to be careful about plots on the lands on the prohibited list. Arrangements have been made for people to pay money and register at the sub-registrar offices without going around government offices.
