Modi Government Plans Pension Hike to Benefit 78 Lakh People


The Modi government is working to increase the minimum pension for about 78 lakh pensioners under the EPS-95 scheme. The government is considering the demand to raise the minimum monthly pension to Rs. 7,500.

Union Labor and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandavia met with representatives of the pensioners’ association and assured that the government will take necessary steps to meet the demand for an increase in the minimum pension.

The EPS-95 National Agitation Committee (NAC) has demanded an increase in the minimum pension to Rs. 7,500 per month, dearness allowance, and free medical facilities for the pensioners’ spouses.

Furthermore, members of the organization have received support from several MPs from the Congress and other opposition parties to fulfil the demand for a higher pension.
