The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, launched by the Modi government in 2015, provides affordable housing to all sections of society.
Currently, there are two types of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana running in the country for urban and rural people. Recently, after becoming the Prime Minister for the third time, PM Modi made some key announcements regarding the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
It has been announced that out of 3 crore houses, two crore houses will be constructed under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural). One crore houses will be built under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban).

How to apply at pmaymis.gov.in? To apply for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, follow the steps below:
- First, log in to the PMAY website pmayis.gov.in.
- After this, select the Citizen Assessment option and click on the “For Slum Dwellers” or one of the other three options under Benefit.
- Now enter the Aadhaar card details and click on check.
- After this, you will be redirected to another page where you have to fill in all the details correctly.
- You must fill in the details, such as name, contact number, personal information, and bank account details.
- After filling in all the details, scroll down and enter the CAPTCHA. Then click on the save button.
After completing these steps, your application process is complete. If you have filled in any wrong information, you can make corrections in the form using your application’s UID number. You can also take a printout after filling out the application form.
Documents Required with Pradhan Mantri Awan Yojana Online Form:
- Identity Proof – PAN Card/Aadhaar Card/Voter ID Card/Driving License Original, Photocopy
- If the applicant belongs to a minority community, proof of the same has to be submitted.
- Proof of nationality is required to be submitted. A passport can be given.
- Economically Backward Section Certificate or Low-Income Group Certificate should be provided.
- Salary slips
- IT return statement
- Property Valuation Certificate
- Bank Statement, Account Statement
- Applicant must submit proof that he does not have a ‘fixed’ house.
