PM Surya Ghar Yojana: Application Process For Roof Top Solar Scheme

We want to share some important information about a government scheme that provides free electricity for life through the installation of solar panels. With this scheme, you can save up to Rs. 32,000 per year.

The central government offers a subsidy for installing solar panels on houses, similar to the PM Suryagarh Muft Bijli Yojana. I will explain the full details of this scheme and how to apply for it.

As electricity bills continue to rise, the burden falls on the common and middle-class people. To address this issue, the central government has introduced a wonderful scheme.

By installing solar panels on the roof of your house, you can receive free electricity for life and even earn income by selling surplus electricity.

The government has decided to subsidize millions of families nationwide to set up solar electricity. Each household can install a maximum of 3 kilowatts, and the central government is offering a subsidy of Rs. 78,000 per kilowatt.

However, states such as Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have not fully embraced the scheme due to a lack of understanding among the people. This scheme, it’s said, can help save Rs. 32,000 per year and provide uninterrupted electricity.

Through the PM Surya Ghar scheme, the central govt will provide a subsidy of Rs. 30,000 per kilowatt. The subsidy will be Rs. 60,000 for two kilowatts, and for three kilowatts, it will be Rs. 78,000.

The total cost of installing 3 kilowatt solar panels on a house will be Rs. 1.45 lakhs, with the center providing a subsidy of Rs. 78,000. The remaining amount can be obtained as a loan from renowned banks without any mortgage, including SBI, HDFC, UBI, and others.

Households consuming 0-150 units of electricity per month can install 1-2 kilowatt solar panels, while those using 150-300 units can install 2-3 kilowatt panels, with an option for more. However, the subsidy is limited to Rs. 78,000.

Electricity generated through this scheme can be used for personal consumption, and any surplus electricity can be sold to others through net metering.

According to Surya Ghar’s official website, 1 kilowatt can generate 120 units of electricity. This scheme can lead to significant savings, with households consuming 240 units saving Rs. 20,000 per year and those using 360 units saving Rs. 32,000 annually.

Here is the application procedure:

  1. Register at the PM Suryaghar portal, pmsuryaghar.gov.in.
