The Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) was launched on January 1, 2017, providing financial assistance to pregnant women. Under this scheme, Rs. 5000 is offered to pregnant and lactating women during their first pregnancy.
Additionally, financial assistance ₹6000 is provided on the birth of a second daughter, making the total financial assistance amount to Rs. 11,000. This scheme is implemented across all states of India.
Under this scheme, women receive financial assistance and comprehensive information on childbirth safety and precautions, with the added security of free delivery services available in government hospitals.
Financial assistance is provided in two instalments. For the first pregnancy, Rs. 3000 is given after registration and medical examination, and Rs. 2000 is provided after the first phase of vaccination is completed.
Additionally, Rs. 6000 is given at once for the birth of a second daughter. All financial assistance is directly deposited into the mother’s bank account.
Eligibility for the scheme includes being an Indian citizen and pregnant women aged 19 years and above. Benefits are available up to the birth of a maximum of two children.
The documents required for this scheme include the Aadhaar card, child’s birth certificate, PAN card, address proof, income certificate, mobile number, passport-size photograph, and bank account passbook.
