Property Card Received After NAKSHA Program

The ‘NAKSHA’ program, launched by the central government, aims to maintain accurate town revenue records and resolve disputes over houses and land. This initiative is about to commence.

Preparations are underway for a large-scale survey in municipalities to gather comprehensive details about houses, buildings, and other structures.

The program will facilitate the issuance of property cards that will include important information such as the property owner’s name, property tax details, property area, survey number, permission number, and plan, as well as Nalla connections.

All town and city information will now be stored digitally. The ‘National Geospatial Knowledge Based Land Survey of Urban Habitats (NAKSHA)’ program is part of the Digital India Land Records Modernization Program (DILRMP), supported by the central government.

Property Card Like Aadhaar:

The survey numbers of lands and houses in urban areas will be linked through the ‘NAKSHA’ program. Like how Aadhaar is issued to citizens, every homeowner will receive a property card with a unique identification number. This card will have a QR code that, when scanned, provides complete property details.

The information included will cover the property owner’s name, property tax details, property area, survey number, permission number, and Nalla connection. The initiative will utilize a LiDAR survey technique.

Once the survey is completed, property tax assessment will be more transparent, potentially increasing local revenue.

Depending on the specific needs of the areas, this initiative will facilitate development projects, infrastructure creation, drainage systems, drinking water supply, health center establishment, and the design of GIS master plans in the future.

The survey will also track how many sub-divisions the revenue survey numbers in these towns have been converted into.

Urban Land Records in Four States:

The central government has noted that only Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Goa possess proper urban land records in the country. In contrast, the management of these records is inadequate in other states.

In this context, the ‘NAKSHA’ project has been initiated. It will be implemented collaboratively by the Revenue Department, Municipalities, Survey of India, MP State Electronics Development Corporation, the National Informatics Centre (NIC), and various Centres of Excellence.

Officials have emphasized that this survey is essential due to the rapid development of towns and cities. It has been revealed that it will help mitigate disputes arising from rising land values and be beneficial in legal matters.

Moreover, the survey will enable towns to plan their development and infrastructure creation through digitization. The property cards issued after the study will assist property owners in securing loans.
