The Telangana government, deeply committed to women’s empowerment, has introduced two new schemes to further this noble mission.
These initiatives, in addition to providing free travel on RTC buses, include special loans under the Mahila Shakti program, demonstrating our unwavering support for women’s progress.
Furthermore, two insurance schemes have been launched, providing a robust safety net for women. In the unfortunate event of the accidental death of a female member of a self-help group, substantial financial assistance will be provided through accident insurance, along with loan forgiveness, ensuring a secure future for the family.
While the government announced the loan insurance scheme in March, it recently issued orders to the officials of the rural development department regarding the accident insurance scheme.
Various loans will be provided through Bank Linkage, Strinidhi, CIF, and Mahila Shakti schemes to help community members improve their financial situation and start small businesses. These programs are already operational in many districts.
If a woman who is a member of a savings association dies due to an accident, her family will receive Rs. 10 lakh in free insurance.
If the disability is 50%, Rs. 5 lahks will be provided, and if the deceased woman had a debt in savings, it would be completely waived.
These schemes apply to women between the ages of 18 and 60 from the time they become members of the savings society.
However, to fully benefit from these schemes, more awareness and regular participation are crucial. All groups must hold monthly meetings to be eligible for both schemes, ensuring everyone is informed and involved.
Details about the schemes should be recorded in the meeting minutes, and instalments for the savings should be paid regularly.
