Many banks and financial institutions offer Fastag services. The State Bank of India (SBI) recently introduced a new design for its FASTag.
FASTags are an intelligent solution introduced by the government to expedite toll fee payments and reduce delays at toll plazas. Numerous banks and financial institutions offer Fastag services as part of this initiative.
The new design introduced by the State Bank of India (SBI) aims to minimize passengers’ travel time and address toll fee errors. According to a press release by SBI on August 30, the new design will improve vehicle identification and facilitate faster toll collection, benefitting millions of drivers across India.
SBI Fastag is a small device that enables automatic toll payments using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology.
It is affixed to the vehicle’s windscreen and can be linked to a prepaid or savings account. This allows toll payments to be automatically deducted without requiring vehicles to stop at toll plazas.
If Fastag is linked to a prepaid account, regular recharges are necessary. The new design of FASTag is available for vehicles in the class 4 category, which includes cars, jeeps, and vans.
This updated design facilitates quicker vehicle identification at toll booths, resulting in a faster and smoother toll process.
The enhanced design’s benefits include improved vehicle identification, faster toll transactions, reduced driver waiting time, and fewer toll charge errors. This ensures passengers pay the correct fares and increases toll operators’ revenue collection.
SBI’s new FASTag is specifically designed for vehicles in the class 4 category, including cars, jeeps, and vans. It was made available on August 30.
In addition to the new FASTag, the State Bank of India has introduced two other products:
MTS RuPay NCMC Prepaid Card: This card allows for various offline payments in the transport system, including metro trains, buses, ferries, tolls, and parking.
OneView Mobile Application: This app enables users to manage their SBI NCMC prepaid cards in one place. Users can top up their cards and track their transactions using this app.
