Various central and state governments are steadfast in their commitment to developing and empowering women. Some states have designed special schemes for this purpose.
Recently, the Odisha government introduced the ‘Subhadra Yojana’ scheme, a testament to our unwavering dedication to women’s empowerment.
The scheme aims to empower women economically and provide them and their families security.
According to the scheme guidelines, eligible beneficiaries will receive Rs. 10,000 per annum in two equal installments, totaling Rs. 50,000 over five years.
The Subhadra Yojana will benefit all eligible women between the ages of 21 and 60. Families with two or three eligible women will also receive the benefit, including widows receiving pensions and scholarships from the government.
Under the scheme, financial assistance will be directly deposited into the beneficiary’s Aadhaar-enabled bank account. A Subhadra debit card will also be provided to withdraw the funds.
To qualify for the Subhadra Yojana, applicants must be residents of Odisha between the ages of 21 and 60 by the expiry date, which for the 2024-25 financial year is July 1, 2024.
Women from affluent families, government officials, and income taxpayers earning over Rs. 1,500 per month or Rs. 18,000 annually from other government schemes are not eligible.
Beneficiaries will receive Rs. 5,000 annually on Rakhi Purnima and International Women’s Day (March 8) and Rs. 10,000 annually in two installments.
Unfortunately, if the beneficiary passes away, financial assistance will cease, and other family members will not be eligible.
An extra Rs. 500 incentive will be given to the top 100 beneficiaries with the highest digital transactions in each gram panchayat and urban local body.
Applicants for the Subhadra Yojana must have an Aadhaar card linked to a mobile number and an Aadhaar-enabled, Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT)-enabled bank account.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the ‘Subhadra Yojana’ scheme in Odisha on September 17, as announced by Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
