TGLI Slab Rates 2025: Check Monthly Premiums under TGLI Scheme

The Telangana State Government’s Finance Department has officially released the TGLI Slab Rates 2024 and TGLI Monthly Premiums 2024.

These updated rates apply to all Telangana State Government Life Insurance (TGLI) Scheme employees.

Employees can access the detailed slab rates and download the relevant government order from the official TGLI website, tgli.telangana.gov.in.

The Telangana Government Life Insurance (TGLI) scheme is a government-backed life insurance program designed to offer financial protection to government employees and their families in case of accidental death or permanent disability.

One of the most critical aspects of this scheme is the monthly premium or slab rate, which is determined based on the employee’s salary and age.

TGLI Monthly Premiums: How Slab Rates Work

TGLI monthly premiums are calculated based on predefined slab rates corresponding to different salary ranges. The slab rate generally ranges from 1.5% to 2.5% of the employee’s salary. For instance:

  • If an employee’s salary falls between ₹13,000 and ₹16,400, the slab rate might be 3.5%, translating to a monthly premium of ₹500.
  • For salaries between ₹50,000 and ₹60,000, the slab rate could be 4%, resulting in a monthly premium of ₹2,000.

These premiums are automatically deducted from the employee’s salary, ensuring continuous coverage without manual payments.

Employees must review their slab rates regularly, especially during periodic revisions under the Telangana Pay Revision Commission (PRC).

Revised Slab Rates and Monthly Premiums

The Telangana State Government revises the TGLI slab rates periodically to reflect changes in salary structures. As per G.O.Ms.No.49, dated 27.04.2015, the government revised the slab rates in line with the Revised Pay Scales of 2015.

These changes became effective from June 2015, with the revised premiums deducted from July 2015 salaries.

All eligible employees must submit the necessary proposal forms and obtain updated insurance policies based on the revised premiums. Please do so to avoid losing insurance coverage for the new premium amounts.

Eligibility for Premium Enhancement

State Government employees between 20 and 53 years of age are eligible to enhance their TGLI premiums.

This enhancement must be done by submitting the requisite forms following the deduction of the first revised premium.

Responsibilities of Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs)

DDOs are crucial in ensuring the correct implementation of the revised slab rates. They are responsible for:

  • Ensuring accurate deduction of revised premiums from employee salaries starting June 2015.
  • Facilitating the submission of proposal forms and the issuance of updated policies.

In cases where pay fixation is delayed, the revised premiums should be deducted from the month of drawl of pay fixation arrears. However, no premium arrears will be collected in such instances.

Historical Background of TGLI

The TGLI Department has a rich history, dating back to its establishment in 1907 by the Nizam of Hyderabad. Initially known as the Family Pension Fund, it was later renamed the Hyderabad State Life Insurance Fund in 1913.

After the formation of Andhra Pradesh in 1956, it became the Andhra Pradesh Government Life Insurance Fund (APGLIF). Following the bifurcation of the state and the formation of Telangana in 2014, the scheme was renamed the Telangana State Government Life Insurance (TGLI).

The TGLI Slab Rates 2024 are essential for all Telangana State Government employees to understand, as they directly impact the premiums deducted from their salaries.

Employees can secure their financial future and families by staying informed and ensuring the correct deductions. Employees should regularly check the official TGLI website for updates or consult with their DDOs.
